But amazon cloud drive has really changed the landscape of possibilities for me. My plan has been to have a linux vm (or my desktop) sync the nas to an S3 style service. But nothing is really backing up the nas itself. For my macbook and desktop, the key parts are synced between them using syncthing (and the rsync'd to the nas). File syncing is a feature usually included. So for her system, I use synology cloud sync to the nas. The best file syncing solutions make it simple and easy to copy and back up your data from different devices, whether at work, at home, or on the go. I had been using crashplan to back up between the systems and the synology nas, but the client on the nas often had issues. I spend a lot of time testing various solutions, including Arq, Goodsync, Cloudberry, SyncBackPro and Syncovery. It does look like I might need a separate license for the Linux CLI, though I hope they would be willing to license my Linux desktop under that $119 combo pack price.
